”When in doubt, just take the next small step” ~Paulo Coehlo in The Pilgrimage
How could this COVID-19 experience possibly be considered a pilgrimage? As I was listening to an interview with Paolo Coehlo, it struck me that everything he was saying about pilgrimage was true about our current quarantine and pandemic.
A pilgrimage, at the end of the day, is basically a journey to get rid of things that you are used to and try something new.
Well…here we are. Definitely trying something new.
Paolo’s advice:
* Sit down, and feel everything
* Cry…for joy, for sadness, for the miracle of being alive
* Allow life to happen
* Accept and respect the mystery
* We don’t need explanations for everything. We need to fill our lives with love
* Take the next small step…and just be in the journey
My friends, we are all in our own version of the struggle. Some more than others. It breaks my heart to know that so many are not only isolated, afraid, and worried about COVID-19, many are suffering BIG life issues on top of this pandemic. I would offer this for all of you.
If you have been making to-do lists and thinking of this time as an opportunity to get in shape, renovate the house, learn to speak Italian, or get your degree…just stop. Feel the feels that are here for you now. There is plenty of stress and anxiety just trying to get from day to day. So please, let yourself off the hook. If my yoga classes help you, great. Jump online and breathe with me. If staying under the covers is what your soul needs today, then so be it. Self care reigns today. Listen to your body, breathe deep, and know that I am here, thinking about YOU. When you’re ready…just take the next small step.
