A Health Update

I have a health update, because I promised ‘you’ll be the first to know’ if anything changes. Well, things have changed. My Personal Trainer is back, and asking me to ‘up my weights’…again.
My latest PET scan showed that cancer has found its way to my T3 vertebrae. It’s not news anyone wants to hear, but my care team is the best, and they are on it. Here’s the plan.
My first treatment is two weeks of Hawaiian medicine…sunshine, salt water, ocean breeze, yoga and a community of amazing and open-hearted people. When I return from Hawaii, I’ll do five days of high-intensity radiation. The hope is that they can stop this new traveler, and keep me on the chemo meds and hormone blockers that are otherwise working.
For a little comic relief, I got stuck in the Hannibal Lecter cage you see above. It took three techs tugging with all their might to wrestle me out of it. I’m pretty sure I’ll have PTSD from that alone.
So how am I doing you ask? I offer an analogy. You know that moment when your personal trainer hands you a heavier weight—you look at it, shake your head, and think, Really? This? And then, somehow, with support, focus, and a whole lot of determination, you lift it. That’s where I am now. I’ve been handed a heavier weight. I didn’t ask for it, but I’m ready to lift it, one steady rep, and one round of radiation at a time.
I want you to know that I’m okay. I feel strong, optimistic, and grateful for the 45 years of fitness that have made my body resilient. I am supported and held by incredible doctors, family, and by all of you. I plan to keep teaching, showing up, and living fully—with a little extra care for my spine and a lot of gratitude for the community that surrounds me.
I am more committed than ever to stay present. To continue to squeeze every drop of juice out of this beautiful thing called my life. I have no business in the future, and NOW is perfect. Let’s stay here, together.
Thank you for your love, your prayers, and for standing with me. I’ll keep you updated as I move through this next part of the journey. November 25, 2025
