I will open this post with picture of a great source of happiness for me these days…meet Miss Bella. Yes, I too got a #covidpuppy thinking I was home anyway, might as well be puppy training. I forgot about sleepless nights, and how sharp puppies teeth are! But seriously, how can you look at those eyes, and not feel joy, and be assured that everything will be alright?
We’ve all heard the saying “life is short, don’t waste any time not living it”. I like to say it another way…”Life is long…don’t waste any time not loving it”.
So which is it…life is short, and the quarantine is long…or Life is long and the quarantine is short? I am choosing the latter. This is a temporary stop in the big picture of our lives. A pause. A recess. A time out. We’re grounded.
This time has allowed me to reflect on what it is that I want to be in the world. And what I want to be is a light, an elevator, a support, an encourager. I have found yoga to be a lifeline and I want to share it with as many people as possible.
This pandemic has showed me that I can teach and reach more people from my living room than I ever could in a gym or studio. So I am going to continue teaching virtual classes as long as you will open your laptop or phone and join me.
For years, since I sold my last health club in 2005, I have had thousands of people ask me when I am going to open a studio. So…I am opening a studio! It’s a tiny little office in Millcreek, Utah that can hold up to 500 people safely. You can bring your family and pets (no extra charge) and you don’t even have to brush your teeth before your class.
I have loved seeing faces from literally around the world in my classes this past month. I have loved seeing you practicing with your kids, your pets, on your patios, and in your closets. It feels intimate, like we’re being invited into each others’ homes. We’re seeing each others’ imperfections, our messiness, our humanity. And I love it.
For the month of May, I am going to start asking for $5 per class, so I can continue making a living doing what I love, and what I am called to do. BUT…if you are out of work, if you are struggling financially, I offer the classes to you for free, no questions asked. First and foremost, I am here to serve the greater good and help you get through this difficult time.
To join me for yoga, cycling and total body conditioning classes live, click here and register. Use the code FREE2020 to waive the $5 fee.
Hi Denise,
Me dear friend, Julie Jones (a.k.a. Jules), sent me your Girl Power Spin class. I immediately was hooked on you (but not in a creepy way) and see why some of my other dear friends (Jayne Barnett, Toni Locke) are hooked on you. I live in Portland, OR and do not see any live spin classes on your web site. Do you offer those? I am fortunate enough to be a paying client and would love to sign up regularly. You have a gift, please let me know if you offer spin. Either way, Jayne tells me to start your yoga classes and it will change my life. I look forward to it!
Best,
Courtney lords
Hey Courtney, Thank you for the comment, and for doing the Girl Power ride! I am so glad you liked it, and want more. I don’t have any regular cycle classes right now, I just do “pop up” classes whenever I have time and a gym that will let me in! My yoga classes are live every Monday and Wednesday at 10am MST, I would love to see you in one of those.
